By synchronising the breath with the natural rhythms of the heart, this practice helps to induce a state of coherence in the body and mind.

Key Principles:

  1. Conscious Breathing: Heart coherent breathing involves bringing awareness to your breath and intentionally modifying its rhythm to a rate of 5 seconds in and 5 seconds out for a total of 6 breaths per minute. I recommend slow, deep belly breaths taken through the nose.

  2. Heart Rate Variability (HRV): HRV refers to the variation in time intervals between consecutive heartbeats. It is an indicator of the flexibility and adaptability of the cardiovascular system. Heart coherent breathing aims to regulate HRV by creating smooth, rhythmic patterns in the heart's activity.
